Talking Psychedelics with Pioneering Scientist Dr Robin Carhart-Harris

Psyched took to the 2018 Advertising Week Europe stage for an insightful session with Dr Robin Carhart-Harris, the first person in over 40 years to have legally administered doses of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) to human volunteers since the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1971.

With microdosing – small daily hits of LSD to boost mental performance – trending highly in Silicon Valley, there is growing curiosity of their impact. Psyched co-founder Ben McKie joined Dr Robin Carhart-Harris, Research Fellow from Imperial College London, for his ground-breaking insights into the therapeutic use of LSD, MDMA and Psilocybin to boost mental wellbeing by highlighting pioneering alternatives to the over-prescription of antidepressants for dealing with mental health. In clinical trials Robin says:

“Psilocybin was described as fundamentally re-connecting. Most of the participants in our trial described feeling reconnected after the treatment: Internally, in terms of a reconnection to their emotions and senses, as well as feeling more embodied; feeling more connected to other people, such as loved ones, but also more generally. They also described feeling more connected to a vast order, far greater than them as individuals. They described feeling closer to and more appreciative of nature and this change endured for over a year.”
